Pointless, with nothing but an obnoxious jumpscare waiting at the end.

The real challenge here seems to come more from how tedious the playable character's movements are and less from clever puzzle design. I quit after getting stuck on level 11 after I realized I didn't want to make all the same (too slow) movements again.

The no stars are more a reflection on my lack of desire to play the game than any major glaring issues. The graphics are well done and it controls fine, its just that everything that makes it a challenge also makes it kind of an not terribly fun to play game.

The main issue with this game is that it becomes obvious almost immediately is that the game is hard due to poor hit collision detection and bad enemy placement and not so much because of any clever inversions of whats harmful or safe in a video game.

I mean yeah that one power-up is shaped like a skull now? Except I'm more likely to be killed by the cheap flower enemies and blind jumps than I am from actually being "tricked".

Sorry to disappoint you

Conceptually solid and the graphics look amazing but its so short that its impossible to give it a full and fair assessment. I do love whats there though so glad to hear its being developed further.

I could easily see this being expanded into a full arcade/Donkey Kong styled game with multiple stages and different scoring modes (like a "survival" style one that gives you multiple status effects at once to deal with).

Very well crafted and designed, I would happily pay for a fuller version I could play on the go.

Wow, thanks for your kind words and faith in the idea!

The physics are so unpredictable that it becomes practically unplayable once you get out of the tutorial levels.

This feels more like the a proof of concept than a full game. It'd be interesting to see the concept pushed even further.

The at puns get old before they even begin.

I hate giving this such a low score, because it is a well crafted game at least conceptually and visually. But the game includes no instructions so I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or if the game really is just that much of a slow crawl at the beginning. None of the unlocks I get are good enough to get me significantly further and from what I can tell beating baddies just gets you unlocks, they don't drop anything to restore stamina. I hit a wall after half an hour and after getting tired of throwing myself at it I just quit.

Its nice that you went back and polished the game up, but I wish you had also taken the time to add a bit more to it. If not some new abilities, then at least enemies to fight. I know its the nature of the challenge, but so many of these games are mechanically similar (wall and double jumps) that its hard to get excited about even the well made ones.

Controls are awful. Making the space bar shoot while the directional keys are WASD makes for a miserable, hand cramping experience. And while I could just use two hands, it still feels awkward. There should at least be an option to use the arrow keys.

Flatthead responds:

Next time I get a hand cramp I'll think of you donny. xoxo
